ROLE is committed to promoting rule of law and defending human rights through watchdogging projects across Europe and Central Asia. ROLE’s team, together with its partners in larger Europe and Central Asia monitors and reports on rule of law and human rights abuses and issues affecting vulnerable populations in the region.

ROLE’s watchdogging includes:

Research and reporting: ROLE’s team conducts in-depth research and produce comprehensive reports on rule of law and human rights issues, providing evidence-based insights to inform policy-making and public discourse.

Advocacy and Campaigns: ROLE advocates for policy changes and legal reforms to strengthen human rights protections in Europe and Central Asia. Through strategic campaigns, ROLE raises awareness and mobilize support for critical issues affecting rule of law and human rights in the targeted region.

Legal Action and Accountability: ROLE supports victims of human rights and rule of law abuses by pursuing legal action and seeking accountability from State authorities and institutions responsible for violations.

Monitoring rule of law and human rights violations: ROLE together with its partners closely monitors and documents rule of law and human rights violations, including anti-corruption cases, cases of torture, arbitrary detention, numerous fair trial rights, freedom of expression and assembly infringements, enjoyment of the right to property, discrimination, and more.
