ROLE offers support to human rights NGOs, lawyers, and defenders, including pro bono consultations, strategic advice, and representation before international judicial bodies and human rights institutions. One of ROLE’s key priorities is defending and supporting human rights lawyers and defenders, who often risk their lives and well-being to protect the rights and freedoms of others, and who may themselves become victims.

ROLE also establishes Memoranda of Understanding with civil society organizations across Europe and Central Asia, enabling these organizations to benefit from prioritized support in ROLE’s areas of expertise as well as that of partner organizations.

Support is provided in several official languages of the Council of Europe member States, including English, Armenian, Ukrainian, and French. Central Asian human rights NGOs and lawyers needing support can request it in Russian.
